USIU-A and Catholic University wins at the 2004 MMU Kenya Pageant
On 29th of May 2004, during the Mr. & Miss University Kenya Beauty Pageant held at the Village Market Nairobi, Kenyan Universities finally settled on this year's choice to represent Kenya at the 26th MMU International Pageant in Seoul. After a very competitive pageant, the following were declared Miss &r University Kenya 2004 respectively; 1) Miss University 2004: Miss Robai Musilivi Khamasi Date of Birth: 26th March 1983 Major: 3rd year /4th year Bachelor of Education in English Literature University: Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA)
2) Mr. University 2004: Mr. Allan Simon Lonina Leteipan Date of Birth: 8th of Nov 1982 Major: 2nd Year Psychology Student University: United States International University of Africa- (USIU-A)
Others were David Thuranira Nguthari 1st year Egerton University 1st Runners Up Mr. University Kenya 2004 and Maria Chikumba of USIU-A 1st Runners-Up Miss University Kenya 2004 and Lilian Ndunge Katuma also from Egerton University 2nd Runners-Up Miss University Kenya 2004; Nicole Efielaro Joshua from Augustana College 2nd Runners Up Miss University Kenya 2004.
The event held in Nairobi attracted almost 500 people students, ordinary citizens, celebrities & VIPS. Notable guests included the Dean of Students of Catholic University Ms. Thimba, Former Miss India Kenya Pinky Ghelani, 2003 Miss Tourism Kenya Lisa Marie, Current Miss Kenya Janet Kibugu, Kiss 100 Presenter Cess Mutungi amongst others.
Both Lonina and Robai represented Kenya and Africa at the 26th Mr. & Miss University International Beauty Pageant held on July 24, 2004 at the Grand Hilton Seoul Convention Center in Seoul Korea. The event hosted by Mister & Miss University International Organization began, on 17th July 2004 where the participants went through orientation. On 18th July 2004, the participants undertook a volunteer service workshop together with Korean university students under the theme : ??Campus Ambassadors for One Global Family at the Demilitarized Zone DMZ Service Camp. After that, the students went through Preparations for the main pageant, preliminary judging, courtesy visit to VIPs, and site seeing before departing from Korea.
